Yes, that is what I meant.

I’m wondering how Holly and Crystal will not only communicate what’s going on to Gloria and Max, but more importantly get themselves believed. I hope it didn’t all happen offscreen during between the previous two comments. Even if they did convince Gloria, though, we’ll get to see them trying to explain to Max.

Mark probably has the usual problems with Joker's father figures, right?

I know he had the one guy from Komarr who's name I can't quite remember right now, but how much of his father figure issues are pointed towards Miles? His desire to irritate Miles/Stalas seems like more than just "I'm in their heads and it's hilarious."

The one guy from Komarr's name was Galen, and he is definitely the person occupying the position of "father figure Mark hates".

An incomplete list of reasons why Mark was fucking with Miles and Stalas (and them in particular over other available targets):
  • He knows Miles really, really well, so he is really good at fucking with Miles, and successfully exercising a skill like that is rewarding.
  • He knows Miles really, really well, so he has fine control over the exact degree to which he fucks with Miles, and can keep it firmly this side of "annoying but will not leave him genuinely upset with me". (And, again, successfully exercising a skill like that is rewarding.)
  • Successfully needling Miles in this way is a confirmation that he knows Miles as well as he thinks he does, and that there is a person he understands that well. (Mark has got some issues about feeling alienated from humanity.)
  • He doesn't know Stalas as well as he knows Miles, but he easily could, and fucking with him to see what happens is a way of getting to know him better. Not a great way, or a nice way, but a gratifying one at the moment.
  • He is in a shitty mood and feels like taking it out on other people, and for several of the reasons above, Miles is an especially good target.
  • Stalas is not a good target in the same way, but Stalas is carrying sharp objects and probably capable of killing Mark with them, and could be convinced to try it with sufficient provocation. This is a situation that both components of Mark find compelling.
  • So now fucking with Stalas is both a way to learn more about him and a way to risk a potentially lethal fight, which aligns to something even more compelling than the mere sum of its parts.
  • There is some latent sexual tension going on here, because Mark and Stalas are similar ages and Mark is getting a vibe that it is conceivable if not remotely likely that Stalas might actually go there.

What does the other side of a door to Milliways look like? In the Stallas sandbox, for example, if Miles goes into Vivienne's bedroom, what will the door look like? Would it look closed, despite being open from the other side? Where would it lead? Would it even still exist?

The answers to those kinds of questions aren't strictly defined, but I'd say it would look closed and be unopenable.

It seemed likely the answers had already been decided; that's why I used the specific example. I guess it could be inconsistent from door to door, though.

I am glad Sunday's Bella didn't have nightmares. I wondered if that would happen (if TPTB can't give her nightmares, what hope do these demons have), but I wasn't sure. This raises further questions, though (would she also be immune to nonmagical mind-altering drugs, like pot or even caffeine, or is it only magical ones or something? Given that Juliet could modify her mind with wishcoins, I think it might have been welcome vs unwelcome change?).

She's definitely not immune to caffeine or pot, although Bells in general have enough nonmagical luminosity to be fairly good at controlling themselves while intoxicated. When did Juliet modify her mind with wishcoins?

The big one was to get "memories" of Soph, right? Plus all the minor stuff like brainphones, if that counts.

Juliet specifically had to do the fork rather than just install the memories directly to get around her mental shielding. Brainphone doesn't count.

I figured brainphones didn't count, but Bell-standard eidetic memory would. And pentagoning knowledge should be on the same “put junk in your head” level as nightmares. I thought the fork-and-merge was in case the memories of Soph would make her a different person (like how Bells with Lexis are different because of their parents' refusal to play favorites), and thus wanting to communicate with herself first.
