I could now theoretically run this darn thing if anyone was interested in putting their characters through it!

A mostly-accurate-to-shape, less-accurate-to-colour rendition of the gate, which has been dubbed the Gay Stargate by a visitor to Alicorn's house.

Until a more permanent name is chosen I know what I’ll call this world in my head.

How difficult is it to turn the rings? Do they feel like stone or something else which should be too heavy to move by hand at that scale?

It's pretty easy to get them going, you just kind of have to nudge them along and they'll click to the next panel. They feel approximately like stone, but really well-balanced stone that doesn't take a lot of force to get moving.

Dusk I think goes with either Hellebore (Life, Destruction), Martin (Shadow, Destruction), Tourmaline (Shadow, Change) or Iris (Shadow, Creation), Martin (Shadow, Destruction), Emerald (Life, Creation) depending on instance; possibly all three shadows or all three indigos if the instance is particularly nervous of the swirlies. Any thoughts on what the swirlies do, yet?

...also I'm assuming there's some indication somewhere of what things give what powers, is there?

I think you get a sense of what the symbols all mean but you don't get a sense of what powers are available. Individual instances may vary, though.

I have not yet decided what the swirlies do and I probably should!

In that case there's also a question of what happens if you putter around indefinitely, because under those sorts of circumstances Dusks are very prone to puttering around indefinitely.

I think "would putter around indefinitely otherwise" is the sort of circumstance where the gate will give you more information.

I think its accessories and environment can take various possible forms, but the rings themselves are pretty firmly always the same.
