Water was great, and I was happy to see it, but at the same time I'll be happy to have addictive popcorn-like Bellfic to read again.

In addition to everything else, your break and writing push provided some unknown proportion of the inspiration for me to sit down and try to actually write stuff this last week instead of letting recent bouts of inspiration just linger in my brain growing into ever more tangled webs of plot, during which I managed like, 10k words or so in various projects.

So hurray, on all counts, except the counts which are still sad.

In a way, it was almost pleasant - I felt slightly less glued to my computer, I think my sleep schedule was marginally improved, I stayed on top of household chores a little better. But none of the improvements were sufficient to justify the boredom (although surprisingly it didn't get bad enough for me to resort to Flash games) and the fact that I'd be leaving stories hanging.
I glad you managed and took care of the other areas of your life :)

Flash games are the doom of time. Science says so.

- No progress whatsoever has been made in rekindling Aestrix's interest in Incandescence. If you have any bright ideas, do tell (though let's do that in a different thread). Incandescence is still looking likely to require the "decent burial" treatment. This is intensely saddening, but I agree with Aestrix that it's probably better to put it to rest than leave it hanging open forever hoping that lightning will strike.
Urgh, it is sad, but better a good burial than a mediocre "hanging open". I certainly going to miss Adarin and Bells :(

Should we start a new thread or that is too much pressure?
Alicorn wrote:- Kappa's brain is still kappa's brain, so progress on kappa things will be irregular as usual, but Effulgence burial is not looming imminently.
- I am still very wary of starting new longform glowfics. I will need to talk to Marri about the already-in-progress "Witchlight"; for everything else, I'd rather to keep it to sandbox levels unless you come up with miraculously convincing shows of long-term commitment.
What counts as longform? I do hope seeing more from both Effulgence and Witchlight as well any of your work

edit: Aestrix's problem is with Glowficcing in general?

If you think you might be able to come up with Aestrix's-interest-rekindling ideas in another thread go for it. She doesn't want to want to quit Incandescence. She seems able to do sandboxes that don't run over the same lines as Incandescence, but she is tired of Bells and Bell/Adarin pairings and of Prime being depressing and so on.

Effulgence is on a business as usual schedule (namely, whenever kappabrain permits). Witchlight is also on a business as usual schedule - one thing we are not overburdened with in Witchlight is plot intended for the future with lots of prerequisites, so I'm pretty okay with carrying on on the assumption that if something happens to it there will not be much to bury. We will be making no particular effort to form a Witchlight peal, so it may go on without its own index for some time.

Longform means, basically, "more than a handful of threads, a peal, an index, sweeping grand plans, likely inventing new Bells for the express purpose of putting them in the thing", etc. A sandbox is one meeting in Milliways and its immediate non-sweeping fallout, or one universe and the people who live there, usually without sufficient plot that I would weep to see if suddenly dropped.

So it's been ~2 weeks since the break ended. You originally took the break because you felt that glowfic had pushed when you got to write outside of your control, and because it was making your solo writing suffer. Do you think you've solved these problems in the post-hiatus era? Or are they becoming...problematic...again? (It looks like there hasn't been any progress on Elcenia/Goldmage/other stories since you started glowfic again, but I don't know what's going on behind the scenes.)

(This isn't meant to be an accusation or anything--just wondering if you're feeling better about your writing, solo and non-solo, then you were ~a month ago.)

Ugh, I haven't gotten anything done recently, no. I got sick right around when I should have been Doing Stuff (like, making people fetch me my electric blanket and moaning like an insufferable lump sick) and then I got better but haven't fixed on anything to do yet. I might take another break after finishing the Promise and Lord Ruler sandbox. (There's a defined ending I'd like to get to before I put it down.)

Okay, I'm calling another glowfic break. One week. This one I'm confident will in fact only be a week.

You called this Glowfic Break for a specific project or just felt like trying solo-writing again?

There was nothing especially exciting going on on the glowfic front and I wanted to see if it would move things along.
