That's essentially it. Zeviana hasn't had the chance to get out much in her actual homeworld, so her knowledge of non New-Kystle flora and fauna is kind of lacking.

It seems the Gemini thread is not indexed on the Incandescence index yet?

Yes it is. It's after the Phixable threads.

Dangit, now I see it. Maybe I just hadn't refreshed the page properly. Sorry about that!

How dangerously sharp are the edges of portals?

There are different types of portals - Cypress's portals have a hard edge, though they aren't very sharp. Treat them like a doorframe and you're fine. Gemini's Adana (Conduit)'s portals are a bit sifferent, and the edges are fuzzier. You get a sort of spongy resistance thing rather than air or the other side of the portal on the outside of the portal itself. If you try and use Conduit's portal 'edges' to pull yourself up, the parts you're using pass through it harmlessly and stay on the same side the rest of your body is. She can't cut things in half with her portals.

What happens if you loop a rope around the edge of Conduit's portal and pull on both ends, like this?
Would she be able to dismiss the portals while each end of the rope had someone holding it?

You are asking hard questions. I like you.
That would be what actually lets you pull yourself up. But you can't manage it with just one side of a portal, you need force from both sides. A grappling gun from one side fired into something more sturdy that would take the force would also work, but the portal itself cannot be an anchor.

I'm not sure I understood that answer. What actually happens with the rope in the two specific experiments I described?

Missed the second experiment, sorry. It's late and I am in finals week. First one - rope would brace itself against the portal and be just fine, allowing for person to pull themselves up or whatever they like. Second, nope, but if she told it to they would close around the rope and sit there patiently until one side was pulled through and there was no longer a rope in it. That way, if there is a portal to the bottom of the ocean and she threw a rope in, it would close enough around the rope to stop letting ocean water through while she pulls out the rope. It will change size to compensate if you attached, say, an anchor to the other side and pulled that through, stretching a bit.
