Since there clearly aren't enough pending requests:

It would be really nice to have some kind of tags system (as in labels, not pokes) for galleries.

Right now, I'm using naming formats and the alphabetization as a stopgap, by naming all my galleries things like:
  • [character name] - [facecast name] - specific - [setting name]
  • [character name] - [facecast name] - general - default
  • [character name] - [facecast name] - general - extra bonus trauma
  • [character name] - misc - specific - [setting name]
  • [character name] - unassigned
  • [character name] - archived
This handles like 80% of my use cases, if somewhat clumsily, since I'm usually narrowing things down in that hierarchy order, but I also fairly often want to do things like:
  • look at all of the "default" iconsets for a given character, to decide which facecast I'd like to use for an instance
  • look at all of the iconsets from a given setting, because I want to throw a random minor character into a thread and am deciding based on who makes the best sadfaces
  • look at all of my "extra bonus trauma" iconsets, because I'm trying to adjust the sadness numbering to be consistent across characters
  • look at all of my female facecasts for a given character, which currently isn't handled by my system at all
Obviously, tags would solve all of this for me. But then I am finickier about icons/have more galleries than most people; so I don't know how generally useful they would be. (Nor how tricky to implement. Definitely not high priority.)

If you also specified the gender and template in the gallery names then it sounds like this could be quite easily solved by allowing a search feature (probably implemented through Javascript) that narrows down the list?

I searched for the word "phe" in this thread and this reply appeared before this one even though that's not the order they actually appear in in the thread.

That's because it mentions "phe" twice and so it's prioritized more highly by the searching system. This is default behavior but isn't I guess made clear anywhere, and can probably be changed if it's not what people want.

I think priority should be given to things based strictly on post order? But maybe other people disagree.

I feel like it would be useful in some cases to have the search come out in exact post order and useful in other cases to have the search come out prioritized by usage, but in either case the expected behaviour should probably be clearly described on the results page.

I would naively expect things to be in post order. I suspect I'd usually prefer posts with results that more closely match my search string to be prioritized (so if I search 'sips water' a post with exactly that string comes before one that says 'pours a glass of water and sips from it', which comes before posts with only one of the words), but just having a word more than once isn't that.

Prefer post order.

Post order is preferable because if I'm looking for a particular post it's way easier to find if I can look at a post in the search results and go "aha, this came after the one I'm looking for, I need to scroll up" or "aha, this came before the one I'm looking for, I need to go to the next page." The current system is confusing.

would it be possible to have an option for how to sort the results? I'm a fan of options and it seems like we have divided opinions on the matter.
