Sanity check: I am planning to move to a gate and begin the process of closing it using an Elder Sign this turn. Not sure whether it makes more sense to head to the Witch House or the Woods, though. I guess the Witch House would be a better gate to close with an Elder Sign because it'd be harder to close without one, right? But I'm not sure I'm equipped to take on the Ghost there. Advice?

Hmm. I think either is a very valid choice, honestly. Just from what I can see it looks like you can take the Ghost, especially with your spell, but I am obviously not the best person for knowing that or not.

It might be valid for you to go scurry and grab the woods, and I go scurry and grab the witch house next turn, actually, and have Bethesda go kill the monsters. The problem with that is that while he's good at killing things, I'm sort of concerned about his sanity (no offense, Bethesda <3). So, eh, probably a bad plan.

I think the Witch House is best. Elder signs are valuable, you should use it on the gate that'll be harder to close. And you can take a ghost.

@Aestrix Ahhh right, I had forgotten that you'd get stuck in the Merchant District. In that case it seems like a pretty risky proposition.

@jalapeno_dude Ghosts have Physical Immunity, but you've got Shrivelling. I think you'll probably be fine.

Turn 5: Movement
Kate Winthrop (pistachi0n) travels {Downtown, Independence Square}.

jalapeno_dude and Bethesda may still spend Focus.
Aestrix, please state your intended movement.

Jalapeno, thoughts on taking the woods while I go grab the witch hut next turn?

Up to you. If you can get to the Unvisited Isle next turn, probably better to have me go for Witch House this turn and leave the woods alone. If you think there's too high a chance of failure (e.g. in getting through the Merchant District), your plan sounds fine.

Okay, let me logic this out. If I get knocked unconscious (because I think that's more likely than losing my sanity, but that could happen too), I lose half of my items and clue tokens. If I can pick what I lose, this is bad but not irrecoverable. If I can't pick what I lose, I could lose the elder sign, which is unacceptable.

So, if I fall unconscious or go insane, can I pick what I lose, or is what I lose picked for me?

If you do lose your elder sign, could someone else pick it up, or would it be gone from the game forever? Since this is a collaborative game, other people picking it up would still be okay.

If you are defeated you choose which items you lose. If you discard the Elder Sign it will remain in the Unique Item discard pile rather than being removed from the game.
