Is Firefox Becoming the New Internet Explorer?

That’s a lot of FF-related compatibility issues, almost all related to the RTF editor. Is there an alternate editor component you could use, and would avoiding the FF headaches be worth the switch?

I...also use firefox, and also am having the issue where my default is set to RTF but the thing keeps defaulting to HTML instead.

There was a bug specific to trying to write replies (I was mostly testing on posts). It was cross-browser; we just have a lot of Firefox people here. Fix is pushing.

Various requests of the day (courtesy of me doing some major icon reorganization):
  • When you're in [galleryless icons], it would be handy to have a 'make a new gallery from selected icons' option.
  • Deleting a gallery doesn't delete all the icons in that gallery, but it's not clear in advance that that's the case, and as a result I have a tiny heart attack every time I delete a gallery. Maybe the little confirmation pop-up could say "(This will not delete the icons)" or something along those lines?
  • When I'm making a gallery out of existing icons, I keep scrolling through the page of icons, carefully selecting the ones I want, scrolling back up to the top, clicking the "add new icons" button, and then shrieking in despair as I lose all of the icon-selecting work I just did. "Add new icons" just sounds so much like the correct button to hit in order to add these icons to your gallery! And it's the big colorful one! I know I am an idiot but I keep doing it! Could we maybe have an 'are you sure' pop-up if we've selected-but-not-yet-added icons and hit that button. For those of us who are incapable of learning from experience.
  • It would be really-super-awesome if the "add existing icons" page could just show you a list of galleries that you could click to expand, and then load each gallery only if you selected it, so that it didn't freeze up my computer for several seconds every time I used it; but that seems like the sort of thing that might be hard to implement.
  • Could the "add existing icons" page show the keyword beneath each icon, as is done most other places on the site?
(Have I said lately that you guys are the best? You guys are the best! <3)

My updates:
- RTF mode will now only initialize the first time you use it (page load for RTF-defaults, first click for HTML-defaults), and so the hack to prevent extraneous tags that broke Firefox's reload protection has been removed.
- Changing a character's default icon now uses the shiny new API. Plus you now can just click on the default option to unset it, rather than requiring you to click on a separate and non-obvious link.
- Improvement to the post scraper to try harder to find existing icons when scraping - url can be different but icon must be attached to the right character and have exactly the same keyword.
- More tests! We're only up to 90.35% but the gain's larger than it looks because I removed a bunch of covered code (the characters API code is tested but it's shorter than the old non-API also-tested version and the RTF tag hack was tested).

Throne's updates:
- The thing to warn you if you're going to leave the page with icons selected
- The thing to add "does not delete the icons" to the confirmation popup"
- Coauthers can edit title and description of a post
- There is an account setting to automatically hide posts that have been marked On Hiatus from Tags Owed. (ONLY ones that were so marked; the auto "say it's on hiatus cause it hasn't been updated in a while" ones will still appear.)
- Fixed a weird file mode issue from an old editor

@Mori Throne put the rest on the list, though as a temporary workaround for the "add existing" page the keywords will show on hover. Also <33333333

eeeeeeeeeeeee :D

okay while I am Demanding Things Of The Overworked Constellation Makers: I can't figure out any way to make the auto-hiatused threads go away, because they won't let me mark them hiatused because they already are, but they also won't let me unmark them because I didn't manually mark them. I even tried marking one complete and then changing it back to incomplete, in case that would remove the auto-hiatus and let me manually hiatus it so it would disappear from my Tags Owed. Am I just being dumb? Help!

I think adding and deleting a reply would probably remove the auto-hiatus?

Ew no don't do that that's horrifying you'd mess with the timestamps and also bug me because my report indicator would suggest you'd updated recently.

Mark it complete and mark it hiatus works. For me, at least, it did. Maybe try abandoned and hiatus, or something, but I think complete and hiatus works.

Note: You mark it hiatus in the top-right menu. It must not show up as hiatus for this to appear. So it won't show up if the thread is 'active' but marked hiatus due to a time period, but it will show up if you mark the thread complete. (Literal steps to remove a hiatus thread from your tags owed page: (1) Hide them in your account settings. (2) If it still shows up, open it. (3) Mark it complete, or abandoned. (4) Press the 'put on hiatus' button in the same dropdown menu in the top-right of the post.)
