Are Cassidy and Grey from the sequels? I don't remember them, but only read the original trilogy and the prequel. I always thought Jaenelle was kindof boring and Sue-ish but she has very good canon reasons for being overpowered and nigh-universally beloved so while she's not my favorite, I don't really mind her either. Daemon I adored but it's hard to find a tortured antihero in love who I don't. What are Cassidy and Grey like?

The world of the Dresden Files could be interesting but I've only managed to read the first book because the writing style treats all male characters as rivals to the protagonist and all female characters as potential sex interests and the protagonist reminds me of an ex and overall as much as I'm curious about the setting, the characterization is just too tedious for me to keep reading the series.

The Dresden Files are a pretty interesting world, and the first two books are substantially worse than the rest. The characterization gets way, way better. (Harry does stay vaguely misogynist in an old-fashioned chivalrous-Noir-detective way, but the story and the character are both very self-aware about it, and there are a ton of strong female characters.)

I'd like to see Bells and Jokers in some Sanderson universe. Stormlight Archive is probably premature for fic-writing, but the Mistborn world isn't. The old setting provides better Joker conditions (the magic frequently requires being beaten to within an inch of your life to activate, and that gets fixed at the end of the trilogy), and it's more fleshed out than the Wax/Wayne Western/steampunk version, but I think the later time might make for better story possibilities. Bell would also probably have a field day with Elantris magic.

I will also put in an additional for for the Bartimaeus trilogy, Diana Wynne Jones, and Abhorsen.

Ooh, had a good thought: Somebell should find Myst or D'ni. I want to see the world she would Write. (Though it's possible I'm a slightly rabid Myst fanboy, that fact doesn't make the awesomeness any less true.)

Mercedes Lackey wrote Sarion's canon. I hated Sarion's canon.

I have read an embarrassingly large amount of Piers Anthony (which means only "more than one paragraph", but it was a lot more than one paragraph, alas) and don't want to spend any more time there.

I can't stand Brandon Sanderson. I dragged myself all the way through Elantris. I tried to read Mistborn, wanted to throw it across the room, asked the person who recommended it to me "by any chance does this jerk die a painful death during this story", proceeded another thirty pages on the promise that he would, and then gave up anyway. It is starting to look like we just like really really different books, ne?

Never heard of Mercy Thompson, but with this track record I'm not optimistic XD

I've been tempted to read Dresden Files before but nothing really catapults it to the top of my reading list.

I didn't like Myst. This is probably at least 90% because I loathe puzzles, but I haven't heard anything about it that makes me sit up and beg for more about the other features of the setting either.

I haven't actually played Myst to comment, but Let's Plays are a thing and may be handy for that sort of situation if you can find a good one.

How weird would be a world based on The Sims games? I mean, add weird creatures-monsters and actual known ways for immortality and see how a Bell reacts :p

Yeah, as much as I love Mercedes Lackey in a fond-nostalgia way, none of her settings are good enough to be worth making Alicorn read them. XD

...the Sims is... more tempting than it should be...

Also I'm totally gonna go read that Myst LP now.
