There is an automated reports page on the Constellation now! See the Constellation thread for more details.
The forum reports will probably continue for a while, since I'm not sure how attached people are to this particular method. I know the pinging of "new reply" is probably useful, which isn't yet available on the Constellation automated version. :P

Re: Daily Reports Chatter
pinging of new reply?
Re: Daily Reports Chatter
If you subscribe to a thread on this forum then you can get emails when it has a new reply, and also the forum goes red which is convenient if you haven't yet remembered to check out the daily report. It was mentioned as a thing people like, when I asked about it in the IRC a while ago, I think. The Constellation one doesn't have this feature.

Somehow bisada never got Reported; could you please investigate that?

Re: Daily Reports Chatter
It spent a long while as a private thread; that might be related?
Re: Daily Reports Chatter
It was hidden (which is in fact related, Kappa, yeah), and the report scraper can't handle that properly due to various constraints and/or the fact I haven't added a manual workaround.
The report checks for 'new' based on the 'created on' timestamp, and assumes it processed each thread properly previous days, because I'm trying not to have it save much information – that'd make it hard to temporarily have Pedro do the report or something like that.
This has always been a problem, but the ways to fix it are: make the system 'know' whether it's reported a thread before or not, which requires extra saving and makes it more complicated if I try to hand it over when I can't report for a day; or alternatively have it forcefully marked 'new' on a specific day (the day I added it to the list), which I'd have to do manually, and also I'd have to add logic in for that to work with the system.
I haven't got around to it yet, and also we're kinda trying to migrate to the Constellation for the reports now so I'm disincentivized to add new 'features' here such as this. Knowing if a thread used to be private, through the Constellation somehow, might be nice though? But I don't think I'd add functionality to process that with my scraper, at least not anytime soon.

Re: Daily Reports Chatter
Is anyone still even getting any use out of the New Threads thread?
Re: Daily Reports Chatter
Me!
Edit: This is because it means I can often grab the BB-code without having to generate it myself and also it lets me know who runs the world so I don't have to go "… okay but who does [setting] and where are [these three characters] because the thread description isn't really helping me here". (I have only recently considered I can look at the 'Setting' tag on the thread, assuming they set it, but that doesn't help with working out what moiety it should be.)
Do not take this as a reason we still need the New Threads thread, just as a notice that if we do abandon it I'd like it to still somehow be clear who runs the setting. If people could PM me or be available or something, that'd be nice. (This issue will not be so much an issue if we swap to the Constellation reports, but that's because there's no moiety coloring on the thread descriptions, not because it solves this issue, unfortunately.)

Re: Daily Reports Chatter
This is another place where coloring is useful. How difficult would it be to allow descriptions to link to characters or authors?
I originally meant Constellation descriptions, but making the colored parts of the report descriptions into colored links would also be good.

Re: Daily Reports Chatter
Constellation should already allow it.
