I do indeed use Firefox, and I'm pretty sure I know how the weird thing happened in my case!

Steps to reproduce:

1. Load a thread which you are able to reply to
2. Switch characters from the one that naturally comes up to some other character (in that case, Stalas to Tev)
3. Reload - now it looks like the original character is back, but something slightly funny is up with icon selection, the keyword dropdown is blank
4. Pick an icon and post anyway, foolishly assuming that everything will sort itself out
5. Now there is a reply that is meant to be from Stalas and has Stalas's icon but the character it's from is Tev

I have no reason to suspect that it might have anything to do with the DNS issue, because "funky things happen when you switch characters and then reload the page" has been true for ages iirc.

This sounds very similar to the issue I had where if you pick no icon you get the account icon instead of no icon (and a blank select) if you go through preview. (On Chrome not Firefox.)

Reasonably sure I fixed that one, Unbitwise – it was if you swap to an account with no icon, it'll post with your avatar, but if the reply box started with that character it shows no icon just fine?

Also, yep, that bug has been noticed, Kappa, at least by me? I think I fixed it in a PR a short bit ago but it hasn't been reviewed yet. It is probably the cause of these other cases and it's due to how Firefox saves forms and the fact our hack wasn't restoring properly from that.

It also happens on Chrome, yes, even mobile, and happens especially when internet's crappy and I have to go back to the posting page to actually post.

I use Firefox also. Sometimes -- maybe especially when my internet is slow? not sure -- I will change characters for the post, but the icon that's already loaded won't get around to changing. This is always fixable by refreshing the page. I assume that's what's happening to other people.

This sounds like three separate issues?

• Firefox form persisting issue, makes reloading the page act weirdly if you've changed character (… also present on Chrome, says Pedro?)
• Switching to a character with no icon displays no icon properly, but then when you post it, it displays with the avatar icon (only occurs on switch, not on subsequent posts; I think I fixed this one)
• Slow internet causes the form not to update properly when changing character/icon

Present on Chrome when I go back to the page after it fails to post
