Oh, filled with barrier, not water or something? I thought you meant it'd be full of non-air (probably non-gaseous in general) substances.

Yes, filled with barrier.
I have started an etherpad for this world but I haven't finished copying all the stuff into it yet.

I like the word sile. It slightly makes me think of "silo", in addition to "cell" and "sill" and "syllable", but silos are also walled-off-empty-spaces and related to grains, which means that most of my meaning-from-intuition about it ends up pointing in the right direction.
Are there siles that are just completely full of rock/soil, the same way that there are ones with only air in them?
Also, how does weather work? You mentioned the siles as having the always-distant sunlike light sources, but I'm curious about rain, and wind, and other sorts of atmospheric condition. Do they always cover the whole sile when they happen? Do they move through it? (Maybe you went over this already? I can't recall.)

I don't think I've done weather yet!
There are totally, like, years, and seasons, and climates. Weather might cover the entirety of a smallish sile, but in bigger ones, it comes and goes and moves around approximately like our Earth weather.

So, after messing around with
an online Voronoi diagram generator and some Python scripts, I see that what I said would actually not get very many solid siles. They would still exist, but not as often as I was imagining.
About how big are you imagining the typical inhabited sile? About how often would solid siles occur?

I'm imagining inhabited siles generally ranging in size from "small town and maybe an adjacent farm or two" to "entire mountain range and surrounding foothills plus a sizeable piece of ocean", with most examples being between those extremes and closer to the "small town" end.
Solid siles are unevenly distributed, but on the whole much rarer than siles with stuff in them. I don't have exact figures.
Hey look, an Etherpad:

Siles are like alucines?

There are many ways in which siles are similar to alucines, yes. But alucines have smoothly curved borders that behave very differently from the barrier walls at the edges of siles, and alucines aren't placed in a physical space relative to one another.

I like sile except that, because silos are tall, it makes me think of them as being distributed in 2D instead of 3D, and going all the way up and down.

Yeah, that's unfortunate, but it seems like there hasn't been any term so far that didn't leave people with that problem.
