Mostly, I just think that someone ought to be "The warforged" for this scenario. I'm not especially picky about it being me, but if you're going for something else I'm definitely interested. ;)

I am not even sure my concept for the healer is acceptable.

What I know about the concept (here, right?) seems fine so far...

Since people seem to be unsure of what they want to do or how to move forward making specific plans, I will help narrow the decision space by declaring that I intend to play a halfling of House Ghallanda, who idolized the elves of Phiarlan and grew up dreaming of being a dancer and working hard towards that goal, and then manifested a dragonmark and suddenly had to learn to play hostess and diplomat. (I am kindof expecting we will have a lot of dragonmarked people in our party, given that most of the info we have on the setting is about the marks and their corresponding houses.) Other people with vague character concepts: let's try to figure out how our characters know each other/are connected and what might have got them both traveling in Xen'drik. (At minimum, my character is here because she can manifest food and shelter and has been hired by our patrons to do so for the party, but I'd *prefer* more personal motivation than that.)

I'd like to know what will count my character as sufficiently-created-soas-to-be-playable-in-this-game. I may just build her as a lvl 4 halfling bard in 3.5e, but IIRC the idea was for this to be a bit more free-form roleplaying and not strictly D&D rules?

We should all get dragonmarked Halflings and one small-sized warforged

...

A small-sized warforged sounds very cute

Edit: rule questions, a syberis mark gets all the previous marks' powers?

Oh my gosh, tiny warforged, too cute

Either that or a bunch of halflings with one BIG warforged who lets us climb all over them and carries us around

How much morphological freedom to warforged have? Can they take their bodies apart and put them back together in ways they feel suit them better, or are they stuck with what they were built with?

Warforged by default don't have a ton of morphological freedom: the big ones are big and human-shaped, the small ones are small and human-shaped, the gorilla-shaped ones are gorilla-shaped. However, with artificer help they have quite a lot: there are lots of warforged components that either replace or augment existing bodyparts, or add new capabilities. Some of the "weird warforged related stuff in Xen'drik" that I mentioned earlier are components that people dug up in Xen'drik that are mysteriously compatible with modern warforged...I don't know if jalapeno is going to be interested in exploring that, but if I end up playing the warforged I kind of hope so.

For the "tons of halflings" mental image: StevenChainsaws are 6'6" by default, and if the other party members were small and charming and wanted to climb all over him I bet he'd let 'em.

I will have to find a way to keep this in character, but if I get a halfling!Meghan, she will climb all over a tall character.

Loving this conversation!

Yep! You're welcome to stat up a character if you're familiar with 3.5e (and I'm happy to help if you want, that's the system I speak most fluently), but this is much more free-form roleplaying, and I'm also mostly inclined to systematize/rationalize magic much more than is done in D&D.
Edit: rule questions, a syberis mark gets all the previous marks' powers?
Mechanically (at least in 3.5) actually not! But given what I said here about the political implications of Siberys marks, I'm comfortable allowing this, if that's the way you want to go--it seems perfectly reasonable for those with Siberys marks to be able to duplicate everything else.

What Urpriest said...but there's also a huge amount of scope for lots of variation in the original form. At this point (about 50 years after the first warforged were introduced in Khorvaire) House Cannith has probably settled on a few standard models that get used for different things (scouting, heavy combat, etc.), but presumably there were a whole bunch of earlier prototypes, custom one-offs, semi-failed experiments, etc, etc.

I may, um, have spent entirely too large a portion of my life c. 2009 co-DMing a campaign focused on just this sort of stuff, as well a whole bunch of artificer geekery in later campaigns. So yes, if people are interested in this I am more than happy to oblige. :p
