Also, if it’s not too much trouble, could you change to a locale-aware sort like I used? Having all the capitals before any of the lowercase makes it harder to look through the list, whether or not case ends up actually mattering.

First group are all yes, second group are all no.
I don't know about "locale-aware", but I (setq sort-fold-case 't) and I
think that seems to have had the correct effect on M-x sort-lines.
