*is flattered by the continued interest*

This thing is not dead! My free time has fallen off to some extent, but the bigger problem is that I managed to get myself into a position where writing the infoposts felt like work and therefore not something I want to do in my free time, so I have been shying away from starting to write one *even though I know that I will probably enjoy the writing once I start doing it*. Stupid brain.

I had been sort of planning to wait several months until writing the infoposts felt enjoyable again and then proceed. But if people are interested in continuing right now, I am up for that. I think actually running the game will be enjoyable, even/especially helping people create characters, so I am willing to start doing that, just don't ask/expect me to respond with walls of text (though who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised anyway).

________________________________________

So, let me quickly finish up what I had planned to infopost about, through the magic of hyperlinking. All of these would ideally be expanded into walls o'text, but I just said that I'm not going to do that so I won't.

The House that Used to have the Thirteenth Dragonmark is House Vol, who had the Mark of Death which has been mentioned here and there. For various reasons they interbred with dragons and produced a half-dragon heir, Erandis Vol, which pissed off both the elves and dragons, who worked together (which was unheard of, since for reasons I haven't told you about yet they've been been fighting each other for thousands of years) to exterminate the entire House, except Erandis who survived but was turned into a lich and can't use her mark anymore. She went on to found the religion of the Blood of Vol, which I talked about here. (I am really tempted to keep monologuing about this, because IMO it's one of the coolest bits of lore in the setting, but I'm forcing myself to stop before I get caught in the same trap as before.)

The House that Currently has the Thirteenth Dragonmark, Except Not Really is House Tarkanan, which is really just a group of a whole bunch of people with aberrant marks involved in organized crime. See here for some discussion of aberrant marks + why this could be threatening to the existing Dragonmarked Houses.

Finally, The Twelve is the collective name of the dragonmarked houses, but it's also a name for a research group/think tank/shadowy cabal consisting of members from each of the houses, which occasionally takes on projects itself. I talked about it in #2 here.

...and that's all you get for now. Feel free to dive in to online resources if you want more information--a good place to start is with the timeline here (and that wiki is decent in general), and the ultimate source of lore aside from the sourcebooks themselves is the Grand History of Eberron, which isn't very user-friendly but has pretty much everything in it somewhere. And of course I'm still willing to answer lore questions, though I'm going to try to be briefer/link to outside resources more to force myself to answer quickly instead of holding off on answering until I can write an infopost and killing the thread again.

Okay, I would now like to proceed to character creation. Please start posting what you're thinking about as a character/how they fit into everything. (It might be a good idea to go back and read my posts linked at the top of the thread to remember what we're doing here!) I will happily provide feedback!

I'm still thinking mainly about a StevenChainsaw. We have now seen Sivath in Skylight Empire, so, that's the approximate character concept at work. He's eyeing the prospect of aberrant dragonmarks but hasn't decided whether it fits his template attractors or not.

edit: Dug up my original character concept post from way back on page whatever:
Kappa wrote:The easiest way for me to fit a StevenChainsaw into this is probably to take the Hawke backstory as a starting point, so something along the lines of "non-rich person (perhaps from a formerly rich family, but without access to those resources, whether through previous hardship or estrangement or a combination thereof) who has just gone through some sort of local disaster and is now rather poorer than they started, attempting to achieve financial security by finding lucrative work in the violence field". Almost certainly a human.

I am not entirely sure what I want for my character. I am happy with being a cleric of some sort.

Is there still room? I'm a friend of Tamien's.

Of course!

Bluelantern, can you refer back to the Religion section of this post and see what sort of deity you want your cleric to worship?

Just wanna say that I am totally still interested, and trying to hammer a template that lives in my head and has not been glowficced as yet into a character concept.

I still unsure what I want for my character if it should be original or a template. My preliminary concept: a halfling (or human) raised by the Host's church who became a cleric of Boldrei, whom might ot might not have developed a Mark of Syberis for Healing. It would be the Meghan template (healer with some problems of being seen as weak for being a healer). I might complete change the concept

I'm thinking about a warforged (or perhaps a warforged scout). A former soldier who gradually takes on more scouting roles, and picks up a little artificing along the way, maybe running into some of the weird warforged-related stuff in Xen'drik. Bluelantern, you're not going for the warforged concept anymore, right?

I like the "Cleric of Self" Warforged concept, but I am unsure if it is the best to this game. If you want to be The warforged I don't mind picking another race.
