DanielH wrote:It also helps to have adjective and demonyms: white twins, assorted purples, etc. Saying “Maggie’s twins” or “assorted Kappa pups” is more effort.

I like Daniel's point, but I never liked refering to either of Maggie's twin-set as "white twins". I prefer the more dignified designation of "Xerik Twins". I know the twins themselves would approve.

Well, I think they'd be more amused than approving, but they wouldn't object.

re: heraldry, right now all we have are tinctures. we could theoretically create more space by adding in field divisions or treatments. We could also maybe include ordinaries, but I feel like that's getting dangerously close to charges and that feels not-in-keeping to me.

It would work fine for eg, Glass peers at a character and determines that they are per pale invected, azure and plumetty argent and sable, but less fine for labeling the author's name with their moiety color, because there is not an easy way to make text come out blue on the left half and black and white feathers on the right half, with the line between being all lumpy. Also, having to read out the whole blazon is more cumbersome than having single-word descriptors.

Perhaps people could start being other distinct sensory experiences, instead of just colors? So flavors, or scents, or textures, or sounds, so long as they are describable with a single word? Still difficult to attach those to text the way color can be attached, but otherwise I think it could work.

I mostly started calling Emily and Eddie the “white twins” because I have a hard time remembering their names. I can keep the characters straight, but even now I can’t remember which name goes with the telepath and which goes with the magnetist.

Thanks.

This is why I avoid saying their names. I just cannot remember them. I don’t know why not. Maybe the mnemonic will help.

I don't think heraldy is the answer, maybe starting using materials or places? Like "Iron" or "Forest".
