Shell Bell only did her thing because she didn't want to be in a relationship that might result in children due to dystopia. If it hadn't been like that she would have just got with Tony.

I can’t really imagine such circumstances for Aether. There are aspects of her world that many outworlders consider dystopic, but they won’t get worse.

also she can just render herself infertile now if she decides she definitely doesn't want any risk of having children.
