So I have started rereading the Silmarillion for the second time. Now that I'm at the point where I can keep all the names straight and do more than just follow the plot, wow do I want to talk about it. Would people be interested in a (probably very slow-paced, one chapter a week or something like that) Silmarillion book club? If you are, I can throw up a post later tonight. I think a discussion by this group in particular could be very interesting because in a lot of ways Tolkien's notions of morality are fundamentally opposed to the Glowfic ethos (this is a deliberately provocative statement that I'm making to get people interested, but for a glimpse of what I'm talking about go to the Tolkien letter in the front matter and read the definition of Machine (or Magic) in the paragraph starting "I dislike allegory..." and the discussion that follows).

Well, I went ahead and posted it anyway. If no one finds it useful, I can just go back to reading on my own.

Hmm.

Maybe someone should check for some kind of world-wide mind-affecting magic.

That is surprisingly plausible.

In honor of "map of worlds", I made a map of worlds.

I have a map (with more worlds on it) drawn out and it has a vertical line down the middle with space arda on top going down through the daeva worlds and limbo and revelation, and Edda's off northeast and Hex northwest of Space Arda, and Grimdarda is south of Edda and thus easterly on the whole map, hence the cardinal directions in the titles of the pealing sections of Silmaril.

I moved it to be roughly consistent with what you just described. But it'll probably never measure up to your real map, as you have information I do not.
