I have now written a name on the 'notes' app in my phone.(no paper on hand)
I have lot less confidence in this name than I had on my guesses last game. You people must be getting better at duplicity :P
Regardless, I will vote for this person later if nothing earth shaking happens. I do believe my guess is better than random chance as long as it isn't influenced by potential scum. I truly believe nobody made me suspect this person.

I will urge people to choose candidates even if you won't vote for them. If this method works to prevent herding it should be a valuable town resource on future days and games.

the idea was that once the ice was broken, people would change their votes multiple times throughout the day until they settled on something they were happy with. i don't think anyone thinks the icebreaker should last until someone is actually killed and day 2 starts, just for the first part of day 1.

at this point i'm not arguing in favour of anything in particular i'm just trying to explain what i was saying which happens when i don't think people are understanding me.

modrony, can you explain your idea more clearly and explicitly? I am having trouble figuring out exactly what it is you want people to do and why.

Sure, I'll write up a list of characters (which will almost certainly have the predictable side effect of making me mourn the continuing lack of new Elcenia in my life), but I won't have time to do so until tonight at the earliest.

found the chatlog on my computer, but not a lot was said:

04-17.log
00:08 < omegabeta> i am curious how much of effulgent mafia role assignment was random vs not
00:13 < Alicorn> role assignment is not random. I do it in a way that I think will be both nonobvious and fun.

I'm voting no lynch. I know the potential drawbacks, but I don't want to risk killing an important power template until I have more reads.

Can someone do an unofficial vote countdown? I have to go do a thing or I'd do it myself.

I can totally do an unofficial vote count! I have a spreadsheet.

Voters for Aestrix: 7
Voters for no lynch: 3
Voters for Alphabeta: 1
Voters for PlainDealingVillain: 1
Abstainers: 7

Edit: I don't know if you meant "vote count" or "vote countdown" and I don't know what a vote countdown would be, but oh well, here's a vote count.

Going through the dramatis personae and just doing one for every character whose name I recognize.
it turns out this actually makes a really long list, sorry.
if I am town my true name and information are in this list
Cenem: mostly a vanilla townie with no extra powers, but with an innocent child ability. (Like iron man)
Ehail: Every night can choose one person and if they are a baby shren or Mallyn, she can "adopt" them and get a private communication channel with them. Her win condition requires at least one adopted shren to be alive.
Finnah: vanilla townie with a win condition requiring at least one other townie to be alive, like a candy shop needing to have customers.
Ilen: if the majority of the town is voting for him, he automatically panics and stops all actions for the rest of the day and night, like he does with his empathy sometimes in the books before he is helped by a mind Kama. This only happens once.
Jensal: once a night, gives one of several temporary simple abilities at random to a young shren whose daytime identity she doesn't know, like how she teaches classes to older children at the shren house.
Kanaat: vanilla townie with a win condition that Keo is alive because of their mind link.
Kaylo: can target one person each night. If they have a magical power he learns what it is, and if it isn't species specific to non dragons he can copy it for one day, because of his interest in learning new kinds of magic.
Kenar: vanilla townie.
Keo: can investigate one person a night and determine their affiliation, like she does to Rhysel before letting her out of the summoning circle. Her win condition needs Kanaat to be alive because of the mind link.
Kheeeahh: vanilla townie.
Khi: vanilla townie.
Korulen: double voter because she is popular and persuasive, like when she gets many people to give up forms to let her become a dragon.
Leekath: she can choose to listen to one person's clothing every night to find out what they did the previous night. Her win condition requires Talyn to be alive due to his addictive blood.
Ludei: can choose one person each night and protect them. If he is killed the person he is defending dies too, but the person he is defending is protected from all other harm that night.
Narax: can choose one person each night and undo any magical effects they create because of his skill at spell breaking.
Rithka: Private communication channel with Mallyn.
Saasnil: vanilla
Samia: can survive one mind - based night killing after losing a turn.
Sashpark: she can investigate one person a night and learn their true name.
Thiies: can block one vote a day due to his role in parliament.

Allera: vanilla but with a win condition requiring no living kyma.
Corvan: probably has a power but I don't remember what kind of kama he was.
Gyre: Sherlock like bodyguard to Ehail, will die in Ehail's place.
Mallyn:private communication channel with Rithka.
Revenn: probably has powers from kama mastery.
Tallyn: can investigate one person per night with mind kama to find out their true name. Win condition needs Leekath to be alive.
I am on mobile. I think I got all the typos but if I didn't I'm sorry.
