Yes, I think we deserve a Real Favicon, I just have no idea how to acquire one.

That, yeah. Suggestions: Red seven pointed star? Red hexagon?

I don't see that it particularly needs to change, but of those two, I like Image in looking more starlike on a light background.

And shouldn't this discussion happen on the Constellation thread?

...it totally should, I didn't even notice that this wasn't the Constellation thread until you pointed that out.

So favicons! I made these stars things:

Image Lighter shadow

Thoughts?

I feel like heavy shadow is probably weird in a favicon. Other than that… I'd mmmaybe prefer a background of some kind on a favicon so it doesn't just get lost? But I'm not sure about how strong that preference is nor how, y'know, actually grounded it is, so if people like these then I don't mind.

What do you mean by "doesn't get lost"?

I did the transparency thing because I really like Dreamwidth's favicon, which is a red spiral with a transparent background and is both pretty and distinctive. I did the white stars/black shadow so that the icon would stand out no matter what was behind it. I like the lighter-shadow variant better than the heavier-shadow variant because on the heavier shadow there's a bit that looks noticeably cut off on one side and it bugs me a little.

I meant doesn't get lost on backgrounds and such - like if your bookmarks bar is a weird color - but it probably is not much of an issue if it is one at all. I vaguely remember being confused with the Dreamwidth one because of the transparency, I think, but got used to it, so yeah, I don't predict it'll really be a problem anyway.
