I think that if I put a Joker in that world, I'd give him an Iris that didn't follow a predictable pattern - essentially, he'd have constant visual hallucinations that might take any form, with no clear rule or theme, and he'd have to guess what they meant on a case by case basis. Jokers being Jokers and pretty good at symbology, this would not be as much of a complete waste of a power as it might be on someone else, but it would still be mostly useless.

For a Sherlock... I think they'd get a finding Iris: if they wanted to find a person or object, they would be able to see a ghostly silhouette of that person/thing if they looked in the right direction. And it would be possible to creatively apply it, like, "I want to find the person who stole my pen." I'd probably make a Tony an Iris Zero.

Not sure about any other templates. I think I'd give a Libby something Libby-related, but that covers a wide range of possible options. XD
I am not sure if the Iris is personality-based or if it is the other way around.

anyway.

What counts as a "fandom"? There this witchcraft magic system thing from a old DnD setting that I think it could be adapted?
The Adapted Witchcraft Magic System Thing (It could be in Earth-typical world)
Witches draw magic from with-in, gaining some gifts, Witches have one specific element they are attuned to and “manifestations” of these elements.
Elements: Iron, Mind, Sea, Wind, Winter and Wood.
Manifestations: Blade, Fire, Song, Spirit, Storm and Word
It works more or less as: Element + Manifestation = Gift. You can have only one element (see below) but multiple manifestations. Manifestations follows some “themes” but not always.
Examples:
Winter + Storm = Hailstorm
Wood + Word = Speaking a magical word turns the witch’s skin in to bark-like armor.
Fire + any element, usually gives you a bolt of offensive energy, except that Iron witches can summon a lance engulfed in flames and wind witches a fire shield.
You could have a Iron Witch, that has the Blade, Song and Word manifestations. Respectively they give: Iron Blade (summons magical blade), Armor Song (summons magical suit of armor) and Word of Repair (doesn’t summon anything but fixes things).
Witches have specific element-related protections too.
So far I am taking this from the setting that I mentioned (Arcana Unearthed/Evolved by Monte Cook). Now the new-ish stuff.
A witch can’t choose her element but can choose/train her manifestations.
There are rituals that allow two witches to trade gifts. There are rituals that allow a witch to kill another and take one of her gifts. The later is frowned upon greatly and punished with death. The former is allowed in controlled circumstances. A Witch that wishes to trade gifts can only do so within a specific manifestation (example: only Blades or Fire).
The more diverse the Elements and Manifestations in a witch more powerful she is. So a witch that has the gifts Winter+Word and Sea+Blade is more powerful than a witch with gifts Winter+Word and Winter+Blade (or Winter+Blade and Sea+Blade).
Witches with all elements and manifestations are said (in legends) to be very powerful and with great power over magic itself. However, even with the trade restriction, it is very rare for a witch to achieve enough power to have the powerful combination by trade (requiring 5 gifts) meaning that it would require the killing ritual.
Good grief, this got way too long >.>

Ooh, interesting. I would love to build a setting on those basic rules, although I'd probably completely overhaul the element and manifestation sets because I have an unnatural love of playing with systems like that. :D

My obsession with it relates from my love of analyzing multiple combinations xD.
I can give you the .pdf with the original setting if you want to.
*If you do change things (and accepts suggestions) I would ask you to:
*Not go with the “easy” route of classical five elements. It wouldn’t be bad, but I think it is more interesting if you don’t.
**Incidently I think that the types of elements and manifestations should probably revolve around 5-7 or go “too many to catalogue” or something, your call >.>
*Keep the Blade manifestation or have something similar enough so we can have witches with elemental swords, I think this speaks by itself why.
*Possibly keep the gift “Word of Repair” or something similar, it fixes things and I would love to see witches making a living out of it, or even a witch (tony?) trying to understand how the hell it works and how to harness its power.

And if you are going to do things that involve the elements/manifestations combinations, I wouldn't mind helping with it at all xD

I would like that pdf yes :D

And I think this is a job for... spreadsheets! (I often think things are a job for spreadsheets.) (Spreadsheets are so great.) But right now I'm doing other stuff so I'm going to hold off on making any spreadsheets for this until I've made some headway on journals for my upcoming characters.

Okay, how can I share it with you?

Also, let me know how things turn out (or if you need/want some help)

Okay, sent the thing. I think a thread in miscelany would be okay. I would like to give some suggestions without derail this thread.

I am going to fall over and then explode from happiness if y'all adapt anything from any D&D ever.
