None of those items seem as valuable as an Elder Sign, even when accounting for relative cost, so I'm inclined to pass them up unless anyone feels strongly that this is a bad idea.

So, when I get back to the Woods, I believe I'll have the chance to close the gate. This does not seem like the best idea, since it could re-open before we can seal it. Does it make sense to everyone if I don't close the gate, and just try to keep fighting off monsters instead?

Turn 2: Arkham Encounters
Carolyn Fern (Aestrix) is offered these fine items:
  • Book of Dyzan (Tome, $3 Unique Item): Movement: Exhaust and spend 2 movement points to make a Lore (-1) check. If you pass, draw 1 Spell, lose 1 Sanity, and put 1 Stamina token from the bank on Book of Dzyan. If there are 2 Stamina tokens on it, discard Book of Dzyan. If you fail, nothing happens.
  • Nameless Cults (Tome, $3 Unique Item): Movement: Exhaust and spend 1 movement point to make a Lore (-1) check. If you pass, draw 1 Spell, lose 1 Sanity, and discard Nameless Cults. If you fail, nothing happens.
  • Powder of Ibn-Ghazi (Magical Weapon, 2 Hands, $6 Unique Item): +9 to one Combat check. Lose 1 Sanity and discard after use.
Turn 2: Other World Encounters
Michael McGlen (Bethesda): (Yellow, Neither R'lyeh nor Yuggoth) Your mind is flooded with knowledge. Make a Lore (-2) check. {FAIL} If you pass it, draw 1 Spell, but lose 1 Sanity.

pistachi0n may spend clues to avoid becoming Lost in Time and Space.
Bethesda may spend clues to go insane and become Lost in Time and Space.
Since effects may change an investigator's location, the next Mythos card cannot be drawn at this time.
Edit: I forgot to mention that Aestrix needs to choose an item but she handled that, so.

Also I think Bethesda lucked out on failing that lore check xD

Hm. I will pass on buying anything, tempting as the Book of Dyzan is.

(In the future, I'd like to request that people specify a number of clues to spend up to when they use clues, to make things faster. I thought I had said this earlier but I think I was dreaming at the time since I definitely didn't.)
