If you want to look at the sheet sorted by various things without changing how it appears to anyone else, you can use a filter view (Data -> Filter views... -> Create new filter view, or Data -> Filter views... -> [some view with a likely-looking name]).
Be warned that while changing your sort order in the filter view won't alter the sheet as a whole, it will change that filter view. I've been contemplating making a filter view called something like "Kappa screwing around" for that reason, because I keep going into the filter views named things like "Template, World" and seeing that someone has been playing with them and they don't behave how I expect. At least if I have my own filter view for screwing around with, I'll know I'm not messing up anybody else's.
Effulgence Spreadsheets!
Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
Thanks! Turns out the "World, Name" filter view does pretty much exactly what I was trying to do before, so I don't even need to make a new one. :D
Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
I was thinking there could be a column which shows who a character has replaced in the canon verse when it's applicable. Like... Juliet - Buffy Summers, Aegis - Ender Wiggan, ect.
"Circumstance alt" is a phrase I think has been used.

Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
"Circumstance alt" is a phrase I've used to describe the relationship of, say, Edda Loki (who is a Bell) and Yggdrasil Loki (who is the canon movie version). Juliet with Buffy, and either Aegis or Sue with Ender, is a significantly more tenuous connection and doesn't come as close to althood.
Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
Is there a word or phrase for the latter?
Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
It might make some things easier, especially for those who have not read all the canons; Ivan and Miles come to mind.
Also, yay helpful new terms :) while I'm thinking of it, is there something people have been using for identical characters in different continuities? Like Spring and Aya or Amariah and Ice; not alts, but actually the same until threading began. I've been using "duplicates" but they cease to be actual duplicates quickly, so thought I'd see if anyone has something better.

...Ivan and Miles come to mind in what context?
Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
Having a row in the spreadsheet saying "this is their relationship to the world's canon" would mean those of us (like me) who have not read the canon will not spend as long trying to figure out which templates they are cause we aren't able to do name recognition xD

Ivan and Miles haven't been replaced. They're just Ivan and Miles, green and purple edition.
Ice and Dreamer, or Spring and Sphere, are pretty much just alts for whom I'm using the same account. Lots of Bells have the same history up to some point - you couldn't distinguish Pattern and Golden and Stella up until the point where each moved to Forks, except by background world facts of which they were unaware. Ice and Dreamer have some different background world facts, but Spring and Sphere actually don't, it's just that one of them moves house.

Heck, some of the Tonies in Effulgence are closer alts than Ice and Dreamer or Spring and Sphere. XD They're so alike, they had to nickname themselves after coin colours.
