It seems like connections without the 'www.' are failing to go through. Compare with and without. It's the same across HTTP and HTTPS.

Also the redirect is not currently enabled, and I'm not sure if that's intentional or not.

Edit: It is not in fact the same across HTTP and HTTPS. HTTP it redirects fine, HTTPS it doesn't. (I thought it didn't, huh.)

<333333 a Real Favicon sounds delightful!

I wrote the code to force all vast-journey visits to go to glowfic.com but yes, leaving it off is intentional for now.

http://glowfic.com was actually working fine, but in the course of my attempts to fix https://glowfic.com I think I a) fixed it and b) got it to not redirect non-www to www, which is nice. If you see errors, this may be expected if your DNS has not yet updated; please wait briefly before retrying.

And now to make my mom her birthday cake.

not redirect non-www to www
pleaseplease DO redirect, one way or the other, at least eventually. Having fewer different URLs for the same page is good for visited-link-highlighting and good for bookmark management and good for searching

Yay!

There are a lot of layers of DNS caching so I’m not sure which one I need to clear, but I’m still getting “refused to connect” errors on https://glowfic.com. It also looks like the certificate only works for http://www.glowfic.com, so it makes sense that HTTPS redirection from glowfic.com won’t work. In 2017, or if you want one to work on glowfic.com as well, I would recommend getting somethnig from Let’s Encrypt, because they are free instead of costing almost as much as the domain (although they don’t offer EV) and because they… well I suppose they technically do charge 5 to 6 times as much for multiple subdomains, but that still adds up to free. I also expect they’re easier to use than Comodo but I haven’t actually used either so can’t vouch for that.

Once my cache does clear, I think you might have broken your glowfic.com domain, not fixed it; you cannot have CNAME at the root of your domain; it cannot coexist with the other record types.

I’m curious—why did you not go with Google? I doubt it’s because of ALIAS records, because NameCheap also doesn’t seem to support them.

Happy Birthday Marri’s Mom

ETA: “Good for searching” you can get without redirecting; the others I agree.
ETA2: Oh, I see where non-www works, and whatever cache it was updated. I still expect weird problems with you using CNAME for glowfic.com, especially email-related.

And since you have https, definitely redirect http to https as well as choosing one of www or non-www to redirect to the other.

I tentatively prefer glowfic.com over www.glowfic.com for the True Final Form of the Constellation because I'm mildly confused about why www is even a thing.
