Yeah, ditto. (I suspected Thorn was involved as soon as there was a fairy court near a waterfall, and then I kept expecting something to explode, and nothing exploded!)

It came out perfectly plausible, we've established that Steel has a working disguise and everything, but that was a lot of tension that didn't snap.

Thorn is capable of cooperative trade with others. That's how Yellow gets Promise when Yellow gets Promise.

I expect Steel might have been able to escape, for a while at least, if she was stuck with the darts. She can deafen herself.

Also, she thought of darts on her own beforehand and has a force field up whenever she thinks she might be in the presence of hostiles.

I don't know how you think of darts on your own, they make no sense in normal people logic. They only work in fairy logic.

You can't say what other people would and wouldn't think of, it doesn't work that way. What if she read a story where a ninja poisoned his target with darts?

"So this is like Peace: Retro Edition, huh? I'm gonna check for buggers real quick stealth-like," says Aegis, and she disappears again.
Pattern is blank-minded like Glass or Pen; Aegis is shielded as though she's a telepath herself who objected to the concept of telepathy existing in the first place.
I misread that as "check for burgers" and was like... Okay, go eat a big mac if you want to?

Yes, that is obviously the thing that needs doing in Peace: Retro Edition. No other world makes hamburgers nearly so well (it's the mutant cattle).

Clearly cattle in Peace: Regular Edition was rendered extinct by buggers.
