Their limit on learning spells would be... basically just how long it took to design them?

Mind you, design is a consideration. Even if you don't have to do *anything* about trimming size, you still want to account for contingencies and such. On the other hand, Aurum vampires have mental speedup and don't need to sleep, so they could probably do that awfully quickly too.

I thing the only real limits on their power would be the 6-slot system and the charge time / duration factors. A *really good* vampiric spellbinder wouldn't be one who could design a small spellchart, or even a complicated spell; it would be one who could figure out how to optimize the hell out of things like charge time (or, for stuff like flight/invisibility/informational powers/etc., duration) while still achieving any given desired effect.

I also suspect they'd be much less likely to use hexes except at the end of the a day when they haven't used anything else. Given the sheer number of rapidly-chargeable spells they would know, the opportunity cost of blowing all your slots at once would be awfully high.

I submit for your consideration: Spellbinder Matilda. A spellbinder Sherlock would be pretty intense too. Spellbinder vampires would still need to be creative and rigorous or they'd just be really good at memorizing other people's spells and designing mediocre new ones; a Matilda would have the brain room to memorize some pretty big spells and the dedication and smarts to invent some pretty amazing ones, and Sherlocks basically come with the human maximum of working memory size and are really into efficiency, creativity, and problem solving.

Probably the scariest spellbinder combination, though, would be a Matilda with augmented working memory. Not necessarily a vampire, I'm not sure Matildas be those, but a comparable brain size. Matildas are really good at playing with magic in particular, and spellcharting is decently similar to programming or circuit design, which they're also good at. Are there any fluffy lap-sized creatures that come in light blue? She should have an Adularia familiar... XD

The blue is a template attractor, and the attractor prefers that Adularia be blue to begin with. Google is telling me that there's such a thing as a blue rabbit, but none of the pages with details are loading...

They also need less contigencies (still some because the vast potential of magic) and they probably can charge a spell and fight at same time.

Given the lack of constraints on spellchart building... they could even make some multiple-effects spells like a single spell that gives the power to fly and makes them invisible.

I think that varies per-vampire and circunstances. If the vampire had time and no emergency need it would be better/interesting using hexes for permanently magical effects, even if just objects, I mean why keep spending slots for a one time thing when you can get the permanent power to fly?

Maybe the Mathilda makes "augmented working memory" spell. Sounds like something they could do and then use it to create a even better spell/hex for their memories, rinse and repeat.

There are several types of bird around, I am certain some are fluffy and light blue?

I disagree, I think scariest spellbinder combination is a Chelsea spellbinder aurum-style vampire. Because oh dear god save us all. She would get her minions to design spells for her and also defend her and also mind control other people for her. Matildas might be more powerful, but they're not _scary_, Matildas are nice.

I meant "scary" in a somewhat nonliteral way, yeah.
