I'm not sure if you can step through multiple times. That might depend on how I set up the ability to step through in the first place.

I am not going to do the "awake in one world, asleep in another" thing with this, I don't think.

Once you end up in a new universe, can you get back to your original one by dreaming of the gate again? What kinds of people get the dreams and how common are they? Are they completely at random, or are there things you can do to make yourself more likely to have one?

In terms of powers you haven't covered by other elements or colours: telepathy? Teleportation (possibly covered by shadow step)? Density manipulation/phasing?

Can you step through in the wrong direction? Rotate a ring partway so that it's in between two panels? Walk only partway through so you only pass under the first ring, then turn around and leave?

Green themes: mind/spirit/emotion? Youth/immortality? Hope/luck/blessings? Beauty/art/song?

Indigo/violet themes: dreams/sleep? Lies/illusions? Flight? Annihilation? Clouds/mist/fog? Omens/time/precognition?

I was picturing the rings concentric and coplanar, not coaxial, so the outer ring fully contained the middle ring which fully contained the inner ring, and the only way to go through one but not all would be to be a piece of paper or a ghost.

They are indeed concentric and coplanar. There is no "wrong direction"; it's symmetrical. If you try a partial rotation it will just keep going until it clicks to the next panel, and you can't pass through the gate in a partial state.

I have not decided what conditions cause people to dream about the gate. I don't think you can use it to get back to your original world; if dreaming the gate multiple times is possible, I think it either takes you back to a single destination world every time, or through a progression of seven such worlds. It might also boot you to a random world but that seems unaesthetic.

I think it makes sense that Green could be mind. One could also use for nature? Like talking and controlling plants and animals?

If you're going to make associations between water/air and indigo/violet. ...Maybe Indigo could be ice and cold, while violet is sound? I think you could also put time and space as either of those.

Also, once you had Matilda explain that her TK works by something along the lines of "precision, range and strength, pick two" maybe level "two" of a power is like that, while level three is not having to sacrifice either? *shrug*

Similarly, maybe the bird/flower/jewel could be related and bird = range, flower = strength, and jewel = precision?

I specifically don't want to give Green any mind stuff because that feels like it would be piggybacking weirdly on Elcenia.

ooh, Gateway's not bad...... hmm........

Alicorn also suggested Blackjack which is amazing but would be kind of hard to arrange to have as an in-universe setting name.

None of the worlds covered by the worldbuilding thread called Daevinity actually call themselves that. It might be fine to use a different name for the type of world.
