My most memorable example is me and Alicorn verifying like seventeen times that Myth Jenny wasn't going to Catholic-freak out that May was dating a girl, and then halfway through the conversation she wound up unexpectedly Catholic-freaking-out anyway over Isabella being created by magic instead. But yeah, as a whole they totally do the thing.

Thanks! :D
Mwamba was definitely a surprise, but a good one. I definitely want to do more with her. I was thinking about sticking her in worm, but that seemed too cruel.

AndaisQ wrote:My characters vary pretty substantially on this. (My settings get in on it a lot of the time as well - Whateley's Detroit Incident developed in some very, very unexpected directions behind the scenes.)

Anya is among the worst; her meta-instance has extremely strong opinions on what she is, and she will stop a plot in its fucking tracks if she has to to get what she wants. Johanna once reached through the page and forced me to draw intricate geometric patterns for more than three hours, though, so she's in the running.

Other notable instances include the time Alicorn and I tried to make Cam and Ari kiss and they ended up threatening to destroy each other, but Ari maintains that that was Cam's fault, and it's really not worth arguing with him when he gets like this.
That was totally Cam's fault from my perspective, why can't he just kiss the cute demon hunter *grumbles*

This reminds me. I assume that Bell that landed on Exalted found the setting too disagreeable?

Emily was *supposed* to be the responsible one and a restraining influence on her sister, but then she went, nope, Imma be a bubbly art freak and also more ruthless than Edie when the situation calls for it.

Terence and Nick went out drinking in my head and bonded over how it is appropriate to treat one's customers. With deep suspicion and like lost ducklings until proven otherwise.

If you're talking about the Shara who landed on Aril, that was mostly just me having a brain day and losing momentum. A Bell from Exalted was planned at one point, but IIRC she got stalled on what her Limit Break should be.

I have no memory of this. I don't grok Exalted enough to write a native.

Lurker wrote a kids' book a while back. And has given me specific recipes for kobold cuisine and pestered me into making them. (Tasty, too. Sometime this summer I want to take her to a farmer's market or something and see if she can tell me how to do that stew she likes - the pumpkin version was onscreened recently but apparently it can be made in other gourds or melons as well.) And Milliwaysbold is gearing up for a book, which she wants to actually be written.

Awake characters are weird.

There was a lecture by a Holocaust survivor at my college recently, and...it would be inaccurate to say that Edie made me go, because I would have anyway, but if I hadn't been going to, she would have--she practically ripped my head off every time I so much as idly considered the possibility of not doing so or leaving before it was done.
