I tried out the site earlier, and really liked the whole template > character interface scheme.

Having just gone in and added a bunch of icons and then put them in a gallery:
- It's not clear when adding an icon to a gallery that it has to be a preexisting icon added using the separate "Icons" interface.
- It's a bit of a pain to do all this icon-adding one by one by one, and it would be really nice to be able to batch-add, both in Icons and in Galleries.

It would also be nice to be able to rename things (e.g. icons, galleries). Also, in some cases different characters/galleries might want to use different names for the same icon.
edit: What are the chances of you opensourcing this thing so we can send you code patches instead of just wishlists?
edit2: A place to put PB information would be nice too.

...man, having added a bunch of Miles template instances to this thing: it's a REALLY good way to organize my characters. Like, almost better than spreadsheets. Even though many parts of the interface are a bit of a pain to use.
...I should go to bed instead of moving on to adding Marks and Aarons. Yes. Definitely. I should definitely go to bed.

I'm really liking the website. Like a lot. For the same reasons as Kappa. :D

PB information is a good idea! And yes, most of the current icon/gallery UI is due for a refactor. I don't think there's any way to edit images/galleries right now, which would solve the renaming? I'm glad people like it though :)
PDV is awesome and has put the source
on Bitbucket but I think it might be private? Ping him for access I guess? I'd prefer to keep pushing-to-Heroku rights, but am fine with people having at the code. Feel free to judge it, I judge it myself regularly.
The scraper is pretty basic; it doesn't support threading at all. And I haven't any idea how to make epub-etc formats, but I'm happy to stick in other people's scrapers if they happen to be compatible. Anyone who wants a look at mine, you can message me or it's in scraper.rb in the above codebase should you get access.

Ooh ooh I can brag about my exquisitely organized list of characters now! :D
look look
I think I'd like it if I had some way to group these characters by world - it's getting a little hard to keep track of all the family groupings among the Vorkosigan alts.

A place to put source/attribution information would be good too, some iconers want credit.

Yeah.
Also, on the template page for Jameses/Libbies, there are way too many seemingly-identical Elizabeths Kirsch and there will be way too many more if I actually add in all the distinct Libbies from Effulgence. I'm not sure what to do about that but it sure is a thing. Display by template nickname instead of full name on the template page...? Display both? IDK.
And I officially cannot be arsed to add any more icons to any characters until there's a way to do it in large quantities at a time. I'm managing just fine with a bunch of iconless characters, though, as long as I stick to list view so all those blank squares aren't crying out to me for help.

I am mildly sad that I can't go looking through someone else's character's icons or associated gallery, I enjoy looking through all of the faces people can make.
