My problems with both HtTYD2 and its predecessor... Nostalgia Critic liked the movie (that isnt the problem) and commented something to the effect "it has a lot of what he have seen before but it works here"... well, I agree with the first part, it has too many over done elements and they don't work together that well, the second movie is more so. Everything felt like an afterthought, there to keep up the cliched narrative as opposed to people acting like people.

Not being particularly spoiler-averse, I read all those. Now I think I will be somewhat annoyed at the movie while watching, but like it more than I’m annoyed with it. You’ve also gotten me curious with that first spoilered bit, and I am already disappointment with the third.
Bluelantern, I see some of what you’re saying (with 1, obviously; I still haven’t seen 2) in retrospect, but not that and I hadn’t noticed it before. I can’t think of nearly as many “the enemy is misunderstood” stories as “the enemy is evil” ones. That seems to outweigh most of the overdone cliché elements not working together in my mind.

Also, Astrid Goddamn if she isn't narratively useless in the second movie, really, that other viking girl had more impact in the story
And Valka Is one of those entities that you don't feel like calling a character, her motivations make no sense and exist only set up the story

I saw it a while ago and also enjoyed it! I didn't like Tadashi dying though. It seemed like one of those needless "let's give this character more sads to motivate them!" sort of things. Also, when Baymax kept saying Tadashi was still there, I kept thinking he meant it literally, since he has a city-wide bioscanner and all.

Watch it! It's fun. It doesn't make a ton of sense but it's fun.

I really liked the idea of how genes work and recurrences in Jupiter Ascending. Seems like something that would be nifty in Glowfic.

There's not a ton of depth to the concept. Coincidence-twinning. Jupiter is basically the coincidental bio-aunt of her preincarnation's kids; the fact that they have cultural baggage around it is the interesting part.

So I am the only one that spent some of the Avengers 2 thinking how the movie's events would play out in the glowfic-version of the MCU? Reasonably good movie either way.
(also someone put Quicksilver in a room with the jokers)
