Melisande is not a Libby mainly because a Libby would not do the things Melisande does. Like, if I replaced Melisande with a Libby, the plot of the first book would be "Waldemar Selig mysteriously dies, plus some other stuff happens."

I didn't actually think about a Libby as Melisande. I think a Libby might be too different in their motivations for the book plot? My impression of Libbies is that they would talk to Ysandre first, and only bother to plot against her if they found her lacking in important queenly qualities. And if she was found adequate, she would immediately volunteer to work for her. (Kappa may have a different view, no idea).

Flowery writing is fun! If slow. It's a large part of why I wanted to RP Kushiel, actually :) I'm glad you like it <3

I am very proud of Ysandre's facecast. I would actually have preferred Barquiel's face for an older Joscelin, but we don't have a Joscelin and I needed a Barquiel, so xD there are more facecasts in that account's icons if you're curious; I was having fun casting relevant people.

Yeah, that makes sense. I was thinking a Libby would be the closest fit because Libbies and Melisandes are similar in some ways and also in this particular case Melisande is fulfilling a Moriarty-ish (and thus Libby-ish) role. But Libbies do do things sufficiently differently from Melisande that I could see why she wouldn't fit there and leave the plot as-is.

:D The flowery writing has always been such a distinctive and vital component of the D'Angeline voice in the Kushiel books in my opinion, so I'm just really happy that you guys are doing such a good job with that.

Ooh other facecasts *goes and looks* Aaaaah these are also great. I like Grainne particularly!
