Yes, I've definitely been being shy. I haven't got the reasons completely locked down, so I can't provide quite the level of detail I'd hope to, but my instinctive response (based on a self-model I've found to be reasonably trustworthy for this sort of thing) is that having preexisting threads would help. It wouldn't totally solve the issue, since I still need to find a way to get rid of my semi-crippling fear of asking anything I expect people to perceive as a "stupid question", but it'd help.

I don't like it when people are Wrong About My Stuff, but the situation doesn't improve in any way if they stay quiet about being wrong/confused and therefore continue in their misapprehensions, so I prefer very much that the questions get asked! And when people are not wrong I just get to bask in attention and this is lovely.

I think my shyness has already been made clear, but to be precise - yup. Incredibly, incredibly shy. If I make a new topic at all, chances are it's only after a long mental debate over whether I should or not. That's not anyone else's fault, that's just how I'm built. I've been a bit more active lately because several topics have directly involved me, but honestly being quiet unless I have something to say is just how I roll.

But I do well when directly addressed - is a Q & A thread for me and my characters a thing people would specifically like to see?

I would probably use it! For... reasons. Which Kappa shall never know.

LOL @ Marri.

@Aestrix: I would definitely read it, and possibly ask.

I'm not super-shy, especially on forums... I tend not to start new threads unless it's something momentous, though. Also, time for things. I've been planning for, oh, a month or two to get enough WoT worldbuilding - at least, the magic/"Powers"/Aes Sedai stuff - down in one place for Kappa and potentially others to decide if they want to mess with it (channeler!Joker...) :-)

For some reason I'm really shy on the internet. I think it's mostly because afk I can read people well enough to see if I'm blatantly annoying people and on the internet I can't do that. I'm also impulsive, but prone to second guessing myself given the slightest change, which also results in silence on the internet.

I personally don't think you should gratuitously make extra topics, it seems we already have a bunch of redundant topics. But that's just my opinion.

I am somewhat shy when posting on the internet, I sometimes prefer a more private thing (though I do have a channel for that), I will endeavor to post more and maybe make a topic from now on. Making a topic feels especially weird, though. But having you say "no seriously make topics" helps.

I am not shy, just don't feel like I have anything interesting to say that is worth a new thread. But that changes.

For me it's a bit of shyness and a bit of not always being sure where to put stuff. I had an idea for a thread but then wasn't sure if it was spoilery or not and dithered about whether to post it in Spoilerland and then didn't post it at all.

What is the protocol on spoilers? What is the assumed baseline knowledge that is not considered a spoiler?

If you're not sure, Spoilerland seems like a safe bet.
