I don't see a problem with having Save and tag in old posts and can think of a few situations where I'd prefer to have it there.

I feel like if you have the "tag" button on the reply form, you do not need "save and tag" in the edit form, and it would feel weird to have "save and tag" available on ancient replies.

I also feel like there should be an "un-tag" button, for in case you make one reply and then realize one of your other characters actually has something to say too.

Otherwise Pedro's suggestion sounds workable.

(...What situations would "save and tag" on ancient replies be for?)

When I post a thing and then decide that I need to edit something old to recontextualise it and don't want my coauthor to write anything before I do that. I suppose i could just edit, save, and then click "tag," but that saves one click, plus it's strictly easier to make "Save and tag" a thing for all edits rather than for just some. Un-tag sounds useful too.

Also, I was wondering, why is the constellation's URL what it is?

That makes sense. Okay, I'm convinced of the viability of "save and tag".

The URL is what it is because Marri hasn't yet bought a domain? (Since it costs money and I'm pretty sure it wasn't high priority last time people thought about it.)

It's not a requirement… but by this point I do feel sorta like we should look into getting a proper one, yeah, since it's probably going to be harder to swap later on, or more confusing or whatever.

Last I checked, glowfic dot whatever was free. That seems like a good one to start with, whether you prefer com or net or something else.

Did somebody suggest at some point that we should have a way to conceal a character's name on some of their replies? I'd find that useful for cases like e.g. the Taliars forking (where the fork isn't actually named the thing in their profile until after they've already existed for a while) and JokerSherlocks not having named themselves yet in-thread.

I suggested a way to temporarily rename a character during a thread – since I had "Theo Jennison?" and "Thea Jennison?" for a mysterious character that looked like a Theo and a Thea, and also another suggested use was for Glam vs Sadde, but I don't think concealing characters' names was mentioned explicitly.

Here's the 'issue' page.

Ooh, secret identities are an excellent use case for this type of thing, you could totally have capes' names appear as one thing with the mask on and another with it off.

What I did was give the setting-character access to the character's gallery, and post from that when concealing the character's name.

For secret identities, if the icons and the name are both different, it should be pretty easy to use two "characters" for the two modes.
