Re: Elfthreads!
The root of Sauron is, in some versions, actually one of the ones affected by the th -> s sound change, so if you assume lintamande is using that version it works, but s can come from other places -- that's actually an argument used by people against that sound change, because it makes new homonyms ...

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Primitive Quenya actually did! (I went and looked up the extrapolated history after commenting on that in chat). That's where Quenya v comes from (well, some of the Quenya v- , there's a sound change later in Noldorin Quenya from w- to v- ). And apparently the relevant sound change is as late as pre ...

Fair point on Fëanorian reliability as narrators (and a certain other person discussing it is dramatically less reliable).

Re: Elves?
I am semi-delurking to make incoherent Tolkien-geek noises at you. The Maglor-at-Mithrim fic doesn't entirely match my personal headcanon, but I am liable to borrow characterization at least from it because it had excellent characterization (and I don't have strong characterization for any of the F ...

Re: The Many Worlds Forum
Yeah, it was intended that they be icly be attached, but I did not have any actual documents to use. The hover-text was to give an idea of the contents/subject matter, and while I did get it to work seems to have caused some formatting weirdness. (They are there icly if supported by the local format ...

Thorn is actually from the Eclipse Phase setting. (I am not sufficiently familiar with the referenced -- oops, I'm doing her speech patterns. Um, I don't know how far off that is from what you were guessing)anthusiasum wrote:Is Thorn from the setting of Ava's Demon, or am I way off?

Re: Effulgence Spreadsheets!
Bells, Adrians, and Zevis for everything except Door (which is listed as being part of Incandescence but both lacks a unique Bell-name and I'm otherwise unsure on templates for) are in the spreadsheet, with the various thread-collection-names as world-names (I decided if any of them were incorrect ...

Re: Sandbox Discussions
Chalk seems to have started running into technical issues with the threaded comment view, now that Brilliance's bit has gone over 500 comments. In this particular case, the index at the top prevents it from being more than a minor inconvenience, but does anyone have a more general fix for the ...

Huh, interesting.
If you want to. It is longish, though probably not quite so much without all the footnotes. There are some rather good bits, though.
