Re: Short Story: "Will"

Ah, thus all the people being so understanding about how she wanted to "rescue a sleeping maiden" when she's asking for strange or difficult things. (I am now *mildly* tempted to demand more Firefly in a "before I'm revived" will.)

This is an adorable story, and also fun to read!

Re: Short Story: "Story Of"

Ahhhh Moriwen is right about that being much more satisfying than the original... but I'm not actually sure it's sadder? I mean, it's sad that she doesn't get to keep all the memories (just a... memory of a memory?) but she also gets to have her family. What the heck is the point of precognition if ...

Re: Particularly Good Threads

Oh, I am so happy this thread exists! Let Me Tell You What I Wish I'd Known (Miles lands in Arda just after the sun appears). Complete. A good introduction to Lintamande's standard "Flat Arda" (canon: Silmarillion) setting, but also a wonderful example of Kappa's take on Miles Vorkosigan in all his ...

Re: Sandbox Discussions

To be fair, "be a terrorist" is in approximately everybody's option space, even if one would be astonishingly unlikely to be a successful one, and you'd have to be from one hell (heaven?) of a nice fluffy world for it to not be in your concept space. Postulating that path requires no new knowledge ...

Re: Squee!

I just finished up Overwhelm Them With Honesty, and wow, I love Elspeth so much! I did not expect "evil elves, visited by one of the lower-magic extrauniversals" to have that good of an ending, but Elspeth is Just That Awesome, and it's great!

Nepal is awesome! If you like mountains, hiking, yaks, blue sheep (which are neither blue nor resemble sheep), elephants, rhinoceros, various other critters you don't usually associate with mountains and yaks, meals consisting of rice+lentils+curried veggies, being out of touch with the world for a ...

Re: Squee!

Whoops, already posted this in the wrong thread before remembering that this one is a thing, but:

Gold Bellflowers! I am greatly (possibly inordinately) pleased about this.

Re: Sandbox Discussions

@jalapeno_dude: Ha, I thought the same thing at the discussion of quicksort. It's got a sort of elegance to its efficiency (even though it's actually less efficient than some O(n^2) algs for small n; the better library implementations will switch to another algorithm when n is less than 10 or so for ...

I did happy dances and may even have made squeeeing noises while watching the live webcast. SO EXCITING!
