Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
For the "how we all ended up together" question... If the idea is that we were all sent on an expedition, then I guess the question is who sent us. We've got a few people who have reason to be around Breland, and not a lot of people with any strong national loyalty, so being sent by the King of ...

If so, looks like an even half-dozen. How appropriate. ;)

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
*nudge JD* Hmm, if Q'barra and the Eldeen Reaches both don't really work... what about the Graywall Mountains? I figure that after Boranel pulled his people out of Droaam, he'd want to sent the occasional scout up into the mountains to try to gather intelligence and to keep raiders in check. My ...

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
Ah ok, I see what you're saying. Yeah, Factotum doesn't work too well when you want to model someone who has noticeable gaps in their skillset. Feat Rogue might work pretty well then, or Ranger with lots of alternate class features. Either is a pretty common way to model characters with a diverse ...

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
Hmm... Unusual, possibly magical powers, on top of a general ability to pick up useful skills and see what needs doing...the kind of versatility that makes you the right solution for a whole range of problems, at least potentially...some support abilities... That sounds like a Factotum. It's a ...

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
Alternatively, Adelene, what sort of abilities do you want your character to have? A lot of different things can be represented in the D&D system with some effort. Apart from being sneaky, how much spellcasting do you want/need, and what sorts of things do you want to be able to do with it?

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
Since we aren't using a specific system, you're probably fine if you're going for a skillset that's reasonably representable in the D&D rules, I don't think you need to be so specific as to pick an actual build. That said, if "sneaky caster" is your thing, there are totally guides for that...

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
Evocation really isn't that necessary, especially in a more investigation-focused campaign, so if that's what's holding you back it's probably not worth worrying about. There are lots of ways to deal with things besides blasting them with fire.

Re: Interest Check -- Play-by-Post RPG?
To give a bit more detail to some of what jalapeno_dude said, high level characters are very rare in Eberron, so there aren't a lot of people with the capability of raising warforged from the dead, let alone people who have actually done it. So yeah, a cleric could easily be ignorant of that ...
