Re: Cool Little-Known Things

The heroine has to be an Innocent Maiden in Drosselmeyer's romantic fantasy, (Did you notice how The Ugly Duckling is melded with Swan Lake, elements from Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha exist side by side, etc? :p) but Duck's Innocence is more convincing than the prince's Pure Heart since no special ...

Re: Cool Little-Known Things

Don't get me wrong, LOOM was a great game. It's just that the opening sequence made me hope for mystery, spirituality and high romance. There was as much mystery as you could reasonably hope for in a Lucasarts title, a little interesting symbolism, and no romance. Clearly, my expectations were too ...

Re: Cool Little-Known Things

I bought the Princess Tutu DVD after seeing the first 26 episodes here: http://www.hulu.com/grid/princess-tutu?video_type=episode This is the story I've been looking for all my life, ever since I watched the opening of the Lucasarts game LOOM: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=loom+game ...

Re: AMVs

That's a really pretty song (I'm gonna check out the artist) but I'm not getting a ton from the video part, maybe because I don't know the anime. You're right, I should've known my partiality for that video would be subjective. Not only am I into WWII and the whole Soviet psychic research charade ...

Re: AMVs

Thanks, I will try watching Princess Tutu then.

Many of the AKROSS winners are good. Among them, I especially liked this one: http://akross.ru/index.cgi?act=video;id=1407;l=e

Re: AMVs

I hate to admit it, but that might actually be better than Engel by objective standards. (Now I'm tempted to watch Princess Tutu, though I know I'll probably be disappointed.)

Thankfully, this thread is about your favorite AMVs, not the single best AMV of all time, so keep them coming.

Re: Book Exchange

I get ebooks from the IRC channel #ebooks on the IRCHighway server. Unless you're searching for technical works, their chances of having it are well over 95%.

PS. #bookz on UnderNet might have a larger collection in some specific areas.

AMVs

Do any of you guys have favorite AMVs? I'm currently reading Radiance, so here's an unbelievably artistic AMV that vaguely reminds me of the Luminosity series: http://akross.ru/index.cgi?act=video;id=3414;l=e Well, maybe not if you directly analyze the sentiments expressed in each, but both ...

Re: Luminosity/Radiance

Thanks for the recommendations! (I just felt bad for having been prematurely critical of a story that I ended up liking so much. Sorry.)

Re: Luminosity/Radiance

When I first started reading Luminosity, I said on Less Wrong that Bella has no character. (I hadn't and still haven't read Twilight.) Now that I have finished the story, I think that assessment might be technically true in the beginning, but I like the story too much to think that it's of much ...
