Re: Talk to the characters.
^ Lying to the court reliably means harsher sentencing. In capital cases this is a small difference but they still make a point of having it be a difference - if you're cooperative maybe they'll let your family keep a little bit of your assets so they have enough to live on for a few months - and in ...

Re: Elfthreads!
You are supposed to either 1) have a safe location in advance or 2) not teleport people against their will. Teleporting the gun away would have been fine; the rule is not 'don't break any laws for the greater good' it's specifically 'don't use teleporting to put people into danger against their will ...

Re: Elfthreads!
I drew on historical examples; it was very common for slaveowning societies to prohibit manumission or make it expensive or difficult, or to require harsh handling of slaves in some circumstances, because of fear of slave revolts. I don't know enough to evaluate whether it works but it doesn't ...

Re: Elfthreads!
You can always find a buyer, though sometimes not for very much. You can be fined if you failed to handle an escapee appropriately, and they'll take the escapee and do it themself. (It is required; this country is really worried about slave revolts and thinks that there's a sort of collective action ...

Re: Amenta Worldbuilding Info
If you're blue, which Aitim is, it is both legal and totally socially acceptable to dye blue. Aitim just thinks it'd invisibly cost him things so he conceals it; Maitimos tend to err on the side of concealing things that might invisibly cost them.
